Although both the dishes are cooked in the unique clay oven known as Tandoor. This grilling technique gives a cured texture and flavor to the juicy, tender meat. However, both are so distinctly different from each other.

Ingredient Used For Chicken Tandoori And Chicken Tikka

  • Chicken tikka

To cook chicken tikka, the ingredients required are greek yogurt, salt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder (to give a rich red color to the dish), garam masala, black pepper powder, coriander powder, and many more.

  • Chicken tandoori

The ingredient used for chicken tandoori is plain yogurt, lemon juice, salt, garlic cloves, turmeric, and many other spices to give it a blast of flavors.

Each ingredient brings something different to the table, so both the dishes look identical to some extent but would taste so different because of the components or spices used for it.

Chicken Used For The Dishes

  • Chicken tikka

The chicken portion used for this dish is mainly chicken chunks, mostly taken from the breast. Chicken tikka needs pieces that are skinless and boneless, to be precise.

  • Chicken tandoori

Unlike chicken tikka, chicken tandoori is not prepared with boneless chicken pieces. Instead, it is cooked with thighs, breasts, wings, or the legs of the chicken.

Process Of Preparing The Chickens

  • Chicken tikka

Chicken tikka is cooked by marinating it in the listed ingredients. After the chicken pieces are smeared with the marination, it is later grilled in the tandoor by putting them into the skewers. Cook it until it is juicy and soft.

  • Chicken tandoori

Chicken tandoori is coated in the ingredients and later marinated in ginger-garlic paste and many spices and curd. The chicken pieces are marinated for a long time so that the meat is infused with all the flavors. The chef then puts the meat pieces in the tandoor and cooks them at about 3250-300 degrees Celsius for it to be cooked perfectly without drying it.

To perfectly cook the chicken tikka, at least 25 minutes is required.

  • Chicken tandoori

The preap[aration time for a chicken tandoor is about 40 minutes to be juicy and tender.
